Opulo Announces Expansion of Feeder Line with 16mm and 24mm Variants

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Pittsburgh, PA, June 23, 2026 - Opulo, maker of the LumenPnP desktop pick-and-place machine, today announced the expansion of its SMT Feeder lineup with two new variants: 16mm and 24mm. These additions complete coverage across the most common tape widths in the industry, ensuring automated assembly for virtually any component on a LumenPnP production line.

Joining the existing 8mm and 12mm feeder variants, the new 16mm and 24mm sizes accommodate the connectors, inductors, and large ICs that these wider tape widths commonly carry, greatly reducing the need for strip or tray feeders when populating prototype or production PCBs.

These larger variants have been redesigned from the ground up to handle wider tape and heavier reels based on the EIA-481 taping standard. "We've increased the motor size significantly," says CEO Stephen Hawes, "and fully redesigned the film peeling system to solve the challenges that come with wider tape widths. Wider feeder support has been one of our most-requested additions. Customers want to hand off more of their BOM to the machine and keep their lines running as autonomously as possible."

The new feeders are compatible with every version LumenPnP and require no firmware updates for existing customers. They mount directly onto a LumenPnP like the existing 8mm and 12mm feeders and are immediately ready for use. Both variants are available now on Opulo's website.
